Moshky

Moshky means bringing together the unique flavors and diverse parts of ourselves into something creative and beautiful. Moshky was a made up word that we used for everything (various meals, farming techniques, etc) when we started farming together. Moshky is a bunch of things thrown together, and quickly became the name of our favorite lunch to make as a farm team. We think it’s important to connect through food, farming, & cooking. Nothing makes us happier than cooking Moshky from the farm with our friends and family.

Hey there, I’m Marisa! I’ve been farming for 4 years in Minnesota on small-scale, organic vegetable farms. I’m passionate about building a stronger, more resilient food system. I designed my own major in college in Food Policy & Sustainable Agriculture which is what led me to farming. Once I felt the sunshine on my skin and tasted green beans right off the plant, there was no going back.

I love sunshine and blue sky, the ocean is my happy place, my favorite city is Cape Town, South Africa, and I absolutely love broccolini. I also teach yoga & meditation and offer astrology readings. My life is all about connecting with people, places & energy, which is what organic farming & yoga bring to my life.

Our Farm

We grow vegetables on an acre of land at Big River Farms in Marine on St. Croix, MN. Big River Farms is a non-profit incubator farm that provides land access to underrepresented demographics in agriculture. We’re incredibly grateful to be growing at Big River Farms as we wouldn’t otherwise have land access.

Growing Practices

With every growing decision we make, we prioritize growing in harmony with the Earth’s natural systems. All of our produce is grown without chemical fertilizers and harmful pesticides and herbicides. All of our seeds and produce is non-GMO. We care just as much about nourishing the soil as we do about nourishing our community.
