FAQs

Ask A Farmer

Drop us any question you might have. Ask us anything from “what’s a butternut squash and how do I cook it?” to “do farmers really chew on grass?” to “how will we address COVID-19 in our food safety practices?” We’re here to share with you what farming is all about & why we love it.

What is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. When you purchase a share, you are supporting our farm and becoming part of our community. In exchange, you get a share of the harvest each week. By paying for your box at the beginning of the season, it allows us to purchase things like seeds, soil, and tools to get the season going. The CSA model also allows us curate a box for you based on what’s available. That means you get seasonal produce that is the freshest and most delicious.

What if I can’t pick up my box?

You must pick up your box at the designated time and location. If you cannot, you have the following options:

  • Send a family member or friend to pick up your box.

  • Call your pick-up location and ask them to hold it in their produce cooler for up to 24 hrs.

  • Donate your box to staff at your designated pick up location.

  • If you do not pick up your box, and do not communicate with your pick-up location, your box will be automatically donated to staff at your pick up location.

Why should I join a CSA?

Joining a CSA is a great way to support your local farmers. You’ll get a variety of what’s in season directly from the farm. It’s a great way to try new things, and eat your veggies since you’ll have access to PLENTY. Joining a CSA ensures that you have fresh, seasonal produce delivered regularly. When you pick up your CSA box at a designated pick-up location, it made it from the plant to your hands in less than 24 hours generally. That means it’s fresher, holds more of its nutrients, it’s more delicious, and has a longer shelf life. You’ll also receive recipes and storage tips with each box.

Do you ever need volunteers to help with anything?

Yes! Keep an eye on your inbox for calls for volunteers this summer. We are excited to welcome volunteers on the farm this season!

Is your produce organic?

Yes! All of our produce goes above & beyond organic standards. We are currently working on getting our organic certification. We don’t use any chemical fertilizers, or harmful pesticides and herbicides. All our seeds are non-GMO. Beyond that, we interplant our crops which means every crop is planted with a buddy and they exchange beneficial nutrients. We’re just as committed to nourishing the soil as we are to nourishing our community.

I would like to confirm the pickup dates for my half-share membership. Thank you!

Half shares are delivered every 2 weeks. These question submissions are anonymous, but you can always email us at moshkyfarm@gmail.com with specific questions about your box and your schedule!
